Setting up SendSafe to automatically print orders as they come in will allow SendSafe to be integrated into your business operations just as if the orders were faxed in (but with the benefits that credit card authorization (optional), tax, shipping, and other calculations and operations will have already been made by the Robot).
The orders can be printed in three ways: Long Format , Short Format, or Domain Name Format (configuration settings).
The difference between Long & Short format is whether individual shipping addresses are printed for each item. Long format is useful for gift giving (i.e. many gifts to different people). Short format is the more common setting. Short format lists only a single shipping address. Examples of both formats are included below.
Hint: Do not forget to set the Order Form Entry mode to match Long or Short formats.
Domain Name Format is a special case format which should only be selected if SendSafe is being used to process the sale of domain names. This format is laid differently and fields are added/removed. For example there is no quantity field, instead there is a years field.
To set up automatic printing make sure that Enable Printing box is checked and that default printer is the correct printer. You can have a different default printer for each storefront. Select the storefront you want to configure then setup the printer by opening the menu Setup --> Setup printer. The default printer can also be configured directly in the storefront's config file (<storefront>.store.config file changing the EMSG PRINTER entry.
Tip: If automatic printing of customer orders is selected be sure at all times while the robot is running that the printer is loaded with plain paper. If you place pre-printed forms or business checks in the printer AND an order comes in THEN the order will print out on a form or check instead of plain paper.
Tip: You can disable printing on one storefront while enabling printing on all other storefronts. To disable printing on a specific storefront set the PRINTER DRIVER = <none>
