Computer skills and knowledge are required to successfully setup an e-commerce site using SendSafe. Setting up SendSafe is similar in complexity to setting up a small website server. People who have worked with ASP, html editing, and http server setup will be able to setup the SendSafe system.
If you do not have experience in ASP, html editing, and website server setup, it will take you longer to setup SendSafe (and you may need the assistance of someone that does have this experience).

| REQUIRED SKILL | DESCRIPTION |
| Website setup | Understanding of how your web-site is laid out and how to use ftp to upload files to your web server. Your will need to know the directory structure of your server and any virtual directories or aliases in use. You will need to know how to configure your http server setup. |
| ASP & html | ASP Programming and html editing skills are needed to create e-commerce pages and embed the SendSafe BuyObjects or setup the optional e-store framework. Sample web pages are included with the SendSafe system. You will need to know how to configure ASP on your http server. |
| SendSafe Config file editing | The ability to use an ASCII file editor. This is needed to edit the SendSafe configurations files (for the Robot). |
| Basic Internet addressing | You will need to know the address (URL) of your web site both http (http://www.yourbiz.com) and ftp (ftp://yourbiz.com). You will need the address of your mail server (mailhost.yourbiz.com), and the password and user id for the mail server. |
| Database | You will need to know how to add tables and create a database in the database server you will be using. |
| Web browsers | The only supported browsers are: Microsoft Ver 4.0 or greater and FireFox 1.x or greater. 100% compatible browser from another manufacturer may work but are not officially supported. |

| Computer | Intel computer system to host the SendSafe robot. ASP HTTP, SMTP, and SQL Servers are also required. The http server and the SendSafe robot are very often be run on the same computer hardware (this is the recommeded default setup). Running the SQL Server on anything other than dedicated hardware is not recommend. |
| Operating system | Windows 2000 Server or higher for SendSafe Robot and for HTTP Server. |
| Web Server | IIS 5.0 or higher compatable ASP environment Server. |
| Internet access | e-mail, web space, and (optionally) ftp access. |
| Microsoft TCP/ip network protocols | This is needed for Internet access and is part of the operating system. |
| 100M of free disk space | The SendSafe Robot requires about 5M of disk space. The remaining 95 meg are for auditing (which can be limited to much less if desired).
High performance web sites will need far more disk space for audit files. A 1M hit per day web site will need about 500M of diskspace. |
| Database | Microsoft SQL 2000 Server and higher or other Industrial strength 100% MS SQL 2000 ODBC Compliant database server. |
