CPrompt developed and deployed a next-generation intranet database processing system for GTE.
The C / SIRS system was crafted using Java / Native hybrid client / server architecture,
which allows GTE to project their existing database information globally via their intranet.
C / SIR consists of an N-Tier architecture with three main subsystems written in Java or C++:
- A custom NT native server
- A custom NT native job processor robot: software logic performing data mining
- Java client applets as the GUI for the system, including support for Netscape 3.0 and MS 3.1 or higher
Here's how it works:
- The user interacts with a set of Java client applets which are the GUI for information processing and
administrative functions.
- The web server has a custom native NT server which services the Java clients applets.
- A custom native NT robot processes jobs submitted by the Java clients.
- The NT robot runs complex information processing jobs against a set of
distributed Oracle 7 database servers, which are accessed via SQL*Net and ODBC.
- The NT automation performs system admin functions controlled by the Java clients.
Key Features:
- N-Tier architecture
- Java support for Netscape 3.0 and up, Microsoft 3.2 and up
- Runs multiple Oracle database servers
- Both server and NT automation are fully multi-threaded for peak throughput and 100% availability.
- 100% configurable data processing jobs and reports through the Java GUI
- Java GUI saves and retrieves for editing of user jobs and reports.
- Full job scheduling
- Remote admin through Java GUI
- Automated recovery from network and system failures
- Automatic Oracle database schema configuration
- ODBC 3.0 compliant
- E-Mail notification of job completion
- FTP report delivery
